Heinzel Group: no production on fire-hit PM 10 at Laakirchen mill in October

1 October 2015

Customers of Heinzel Paper will be informed about potential delays in SC paper deliveries or other changes.

The 24 September fire has brought PM 10 to a halt at Laakirchen Papier, a Heinzel Group company. The fire, that started in the press section, has damaged a part of the Sc paper machine PM 10 and from the present point of view the company will not be able to produce the machine's October orders, Heinzel said in a statement.

According to Heinzel, a technical defect was the cause of the fire. The exact extent of the damage is still unclear.

PM 10 has a production capacity of 255,000 tpy of SC paper and is the smaller of the two machines at the Laakirchen mill in Austria. PM 11 can produce up to 285,000 tpy of SC paper.

The mill's second paper machine was not affected by the fire and continues to produce normally, the company explained.
