German recovered paper market mostly balanced in September

23 September 2015

Amid good demand and rising collection volumes, prices for supermarket paper and board see some reductions in northern Germany.

In September the German recovered paper market has no need to rely on the export market as a relief valve. Demand from German paper mills, especially the packaging paper and board producers, continues to be very good. However, the increased arisings have taken some pressure out of the market.

Despite the largely unchanged price level of common grades on the domestic market, the top end of the range has apparently been reduced in some cases. In northern Germany, it was the sluggish export business that caused some mark-downs for supermarket paper and board.
