Ecopaper starts up new CCM machine in Romania

31 August 2016

Ecopaper has markedly stocked up its containerboard capacities by installing a new PM. However, the machine will not produce at full capacity for some time.

Romanian company Ecopaper has added new recycled containerboard capacities to the European market. The company told EUWID it had started up a new two-layer machine at its mill in Zarnesti near Brasov in Romania. The new PM 1 produces Wellenstoff, Testliner 1 and 3 and other containerboard grades with a virgin fibre layer, according to Ecopaper. The company is oriented toward multiple colour specialty grades for digital printing and other packaging in the market for fast-moving consumer goods. PM 1 has a capacity of 250,000 tpy. However, due to market conditions, Ecopaper said it intended to produce at full capacity only in 2018.

Ecopaper sees itself as one of the top recycled containerboard producers in the country. The company operates one mill in Zarnesti which, besides the new PM, houses one containerboard machine with an annual capacity of 80,000.
