Bain Capital received the green light to acquire sole control over Italy's Fedrigoni group. European Commission declared transaction to be compatible with the internal market and with the EEA Agreement.

The European Commission (EC) has approved the proposed acquisition of Italy's speciality and graphic paper group Fedrigoni by the US private equity investment firm Bain Capital.

The transaction was examined under the simplified merger review procedure and the EC concluded that it would raise no competition concerns as there are no overlaps between the companies' activities.

Fedrigoni is considered one of the leading speciality paper suppliers in the world. The group of companies, which includes Italy's storical paper manufacturer Cartiere Miliani Fabriano, has a portfolio that includes banknote and security papers, label papers and self-adhesive labelstock, woodfree coated and uncoated paper and board for graphic and packaging applications and stationery.
