Corrboard will invest £3.5m in an anaerobic digester and become the UK's first sheet feeder to be self-sufficient for its power needs.

Sheet feeder Corrboard UK Ltd. has received planning consent for a 500kW Anaerobic Digester (AD) plant to be located on its site in Scunthorpe. It is planned to start the development later in 2016 after designs are finalised. The modular design of the AD plant will allow the output to be increased as the company's production expands.

The £3.5m (€4.5m) investment will produce 100% of the company's electricity needs with excess being fed into the National Grid. A large proportion of the company's gas requirement will also be generated by the AD plant to fuel the Fosber corrugator's boiler.
