BEK pulp producers plan more price hikes for November

24 October 2017

International pulp manufacturers are set to increase prices for bleached eucalyptus kraft (BEK) pulp by another $30/t for November deliveries.

Brazil's Fibria was the first company to launch a new price round on the global pulp market. According to the company, BEK pulp buyers in Europe, China, and the USA will have to pay $30/metr.t as of November compared to October.

Spain's pulp producer Ence followed suit with a $30/metr.t announcement effective 1 November.

"Market outlook for BEKP globally remains positive with strong demand in all markets including Europe. The increase in demand clearly outpaces the supply keeping the stock levels low. Specifically in China prices for virgin pulp are stronger day by day," Ence said in the price increase announcement on 23 October.
