Ahlstrom to increase pulp and insulation paper production at Billingsfors mill

16 April 2018

Modernisation work on the recovery boiler and production line is meant to be completed during the annual maintenance shut down next year.

Ahlstrom-Munksjö is set to spend a total of €23m on modernising pulp production at the Swedish site in Billingfors. The company plans to rebuild the recovery boiler and eliminate bottlenecks in pulp production. As a result, both pulp and insulating paper production would increase. In addition, production efficiency and environmental performance would be improved, it said

The final investment decision is still pending and is subject to the granting of a new environmental permit by the competent authorities, according to Ahlstrom-Munksjö. The company expects this to be available by the end of June. Modernisation work on the recovery boiler and production line could then be completed during the annual maintenance shut down next year.

Billingfors is part of Ahlstrom-Munksjö's Industrial Solutions business unit and produce abrasive substrates, electrotechnical insulating papers, release papers and specialty pulps.
