Introduction:

Metsä Board is progressing with a significant €60 million investment to upgrade its Simpele folding boxboard plant.

Features:

The investment will involve modernising the pre-drying section and adding a new, state-of-the-art coating section to the production line.

These improvements will enhance the print quality and visual consistency of the MetsäBoard Classic FBB product, while supporting the shift to fossil-free alternatives in paperboard production.

The mill upgrade will strengthen our position in the food and pharmaceutical sectors, offering customers products with superior print quality, greater visual uniformity, and a reduced carbon footprint.

This project represents a key step in our transition to fossil-free paperboard production at the Simpele mill, fully supporting Metsä Board's target of achieving fossil-free production across all mills by 2030.
