Toscotec to supply PM2 tissue line for GrandBay Group in Mexico
6 October 2026

Toscotec is proud to announce its latest turnkey project for the GrandBay Group, a new PM2 tissue line. The company will supply an AHEAD 2.2 tissue machine for the Blue Tissue paper mill in Apizaco, Mexico, with a start-up planned in the first semester of 2027.
This repeat order marks the third major installation in only five years, underscoring the synergy between the two companies: the new line in Mexico follows the successful delivery of advanced tissue plants for GrandBay Group subsidiaries Papelera Internacional (Guatemala) and Papeles Nacionales (Colombia), highlighting Toscotec’s role as the primary technology partner for tissue production in the LatAm region.
The new AHEAD 2.2 machine has a sheet width of 2,750 mm and a production capacity of up to 30,000 tons/Year. By significantly optimizing the consumption of water, fibers, and energy, the project balances efficiency with environmental responsibility. Engineered for high-speed production of premium toilet tissue and kitchen towel paper, the new line is a cornerstone of GrandBay Group’s expansion strategy in Latin America.
The Project
The scope of supply features a complete turnkey plant. It includes the stock preparation system, which is designed to achieve the premium quality of the final tissue product. The machine includes TT NextPress shoe press technology combined with TT SYD Steel Yankee Dryer and high-efficiency TT Hoods: this configuration maximizes dewatering efficiency, reaching higher post-press dryness while simultaneously preserving paper bulk. It also comes with Toscotec’s upgraded Distributed Control System TT Brain DCS, as well as a full electrification system. To complete the scope of supply, the erection and service package are also included.
This latest order from GrandBay Group further strengthens Toscotec’s status as the leading technology provider in the region.
“With four tissue machines sold in Mexico in just five years, the company is now a leader in the region. This third collaboration with GrandBay Group reinforces our position as the partner of choice for high-performance tissue production in Latin America, and we are happy to deliver a solution that maximises production speed and sustainability, ensuring Blue Tissue remains at the forefront of the market”, states Gabriele Romanini, Sales Manager at Toscotec.
