Bekaert Solaronics received an important order from Bellmer as part of their coater machine upgrade contract with Kyiv CPM in Ukraine. The drying upgrade consists of installing three hoods UniDryer® V3 followed by air bars after each of the three coating stations; including a new coating unit delivered by Bellmer.

Kyiv CPM is carrying out a challenging investment program in the cardboard plant to upgrade the coater machine. The main objectives are to increase the speed of the coater up to 400m/min, install a new coating unit and modernize the coat drying equipment. The project includes reducing the steam consumption and improving the quality of the coated board. First step of the installation is scheduled to take place in April 2018.

Cartiera di Momo produces recycled coated paperboard. Market demand for increased quantity and higher quality drove Cartiera di Momo to decide in late 2015 to replace the existing 30 years old Bekaert Solaronics infrared systems with the goals of increasing the machine speed, reducing the gas consumption as well as improving the quality.

Bekaert Solaronics supplied four gas infrared systems UniDryer® V3 followed by sets of air bars after each of the four coating stations. The Energy Recovery Concept was again applied to this project with the air bars sets directly fed by the exhaust hot air coming from the UniDryer® V3 systems. This concept allows even more energy savings!  The start-up took place in August 2016.

Bekaert Solaronics will supply Metsä Board Kyröskoski mill with a GemDryer® system for coat drying on their BM1, linked with one Energy Recovery System (ERS).

The GemDryer® infrared system replaces existing gas infrared equipment. The new drying system from Bekaert Solaronics offers higher input power, higher efficiency and helps to decrease the total running costs.

Bekaert Solaronics supplied Ahlstrom-Munksjö Arches with two 2-rows UniDryer® V3 hoods for drying of abrasive paper base after size press on its PM4.

Ahlstrom-Munksjö Arches (formerly known as Arjowiggings Arches) is the oldest customer of Bekaert Solaronics. The first IR drying system was installed in 1966 on the PM5. Since then, Ahlstrom-MunksjöArches continued to count on Bekaert Solaronics for all its projects as seven infrared drying systems have been installed in the paper mill.

This order comes just after the installation in 2016 of two GemDryer® and two ERS after-press and existing coater on the PM1 of Zhejiang Dongda Paper Co., Ltd.  Dongda Paper manufactures coated recycled board.

The WebMate® systems are equipped with Bekaert Solaronics new generation of electrical infrared modules, eM24. This new module gives outstanding heat resistance thanks to the implementation of a high reflectivity thermal resistant ceramic reflector. The new operating principle gives far more efficient cooling and the energy efficiency of the electrical IR module is thereby significantly improved.

Bekaert Solaronics will supply a WebMate® infrared moisture profiling system to Twin Rivers Paper Company #5 Paper Machine. The system is equipped with 1 row of 39 electrical M2000 modules including 78 zones of fine profiling capability.

The partnership between Bekaert Solaronics and Twin Rivers started in 1994 with installation of a gas infrared drying system on#7 Paper Machine as part of a film sizer upgrade project.

The objective of this investment is to increase the line speed while maintaining a high product quality as well as decrease significantly the operating costs. Electricity power has been replaced by natural gas.

Bekaert Solaronics supplied Reno de Medici La Rochette (ex-Cascades s.a.s.) with two infrared systems GemDryer® and one UniDryer® V3 after each coating stations on its BM2 folding boxboard machine.

The partnership between Bekaert Solaronics and Cascades La Rochette started in 1992 with the installation of a gas infrared drying system on their machine 3 after the size press.

Today, La Rochette mill renewed its confidence in Bekaert Solaronics to optimize the drying after each coating stations on their BM2. The main objectives are to reduce drastically the energy consumption and increase the machine runnability. This project is the third order placed by La Rochette mill to Bekaert Solaronics over the last four years for the improvement of board’s drying.

Thanks to its high energy efficiency and flexibility, the UniDryer® will achieve a uniform total drying after the size press while maintaining the high-quality levels of the specialty paper.

The paper machine PM3 manufactures 100% recycled clay-coated boxboard for folding box conversion. The Bekaert Solaronics GemDryer® addresses the paper machine’s flexibility needs and can be easily adapted to the different top coating dry weights.

Bekaert Solaronics is partnering with Bellmer for the installation of a UniDryer®V3 systemin PM14 at Technocell Günzach’s paper mill in Germany. The extensive revamp of the paper machine is scheduled to take place in the 4th quarter 2015.

This installation is part of the Technocell Günzach’s project to expand the production of pre-impregnated papers, a key growth segment. After the rebuild, the paper machine PM14 will produce both pre-impregnated PRIP® as well as nonwoven papers coated on both sides for wallpapers.

The investment is to significantly reduce the energy consumption and hence lower the operational costs. The UniDryer® V3 systems replace the existing electrical infrared dryers and are coupled to the hot air dryers by the ERS concept which uses the exhaust from the UniDryer® V3 as energy source for the hot air dryers.

Bekaert Solaronics received an order from Matsubo Corporation to install two infrared WebMate®hoods in a paper mill that manufactures coated specialties in Japan.

The objective of these two systems, installed after two new coating stations,is to correct thecross direction moisture profile before coating station and before reel for an optimal paper quality at the lower operating costs.

Bekaert Solaronics installed a GemDryer® system with Gem12E emitters at Metsä Board Tako in Finland. The delivery includes also an Energy Recovery System (ERS) to be linked to the air dryer.

The objective of the investment is to replace the existing drying system while reducing the operating costs. Energy savings are guaranteed by the high efficient ERS which uses the exhaust from the infrared dryers as an energy source for the air dryers, as well as the use of new Gem12E emitters that ensure 10% gas savings for identical power transferred to the web.
