Construction work is now underway for the largest pulp mill investment in Canada since 1993.  The $450 million modernization project at Irving Pulp & Paper (IPP) in Saint John will involve a total of 1.2 million person hours of construction work over the next 48 months.

Civil work has begun to prepare the site for construction of a continuous digester.  The existing chip handling equipment will also be replaced with state-of-the-art technology as part of JDI's ongoing investment to stay competitive in the global market environment.

This phase of the project will create 450 direct and indirect construction jobs.

JDI hires New Brunswick companies whenever possible.  Overall JDI's forest product operations involve a supply chain of over 1,700 New Brunswick suppliers in over 250 communities in the province.
