UPM to invest in condensing turbine power plant at Shotton newsprint mill in the UK

27 November 2015

UPM is spending £5.65 million ($8.52 million) on a new condensing turbine power plant at its Shotton mill near Liverpool in the UK. Construction work has already started and the company expects the turbine to be operational in the first quarter of 2017.

The plant will generate about 4.8 MW of renewable energy from waste steam, which comes from the mill’s power plant as a result of the closure of PM 1 earlier this year, a company spokesperson explained.
