Turkey's Modern Karton brings new recycled containerboard capacity to market

New recycled containerboard machine PM 5 raises production capacity at Modern Karton's mill in Corlu to above 1 million tonnes.

Turkey's packaging paper manufacturer Modern Karton, a member of the Eren Group, has kicked off production on its new recycled containerboard machine in June. The new paper PM 5 has a web width of almost 8.2 m and can produce 400,000 tpy of fluting and testliner with basis weights of 70-160 g/m².

The machine was supplied and installed by Germany's machine engineering company Voith Paper. According to Voith, PM 5 at Modern Karton's Corlu mill kicked off production on schedule in June.

PM 5 is equipped with  a two line modern stock preparation system and is specially designed to handle a high percentage of rejects in recovered paper in Turkey, Voith explained.
