Stora Enso has completed the modernisation of its sawmill in Murów, Poland, investing Euro 28 million in its renewal to increase the mill’s capacity and improve its competitiveness.

“This investment is part of Stora Enso’s transformation into a renewable materials company. It enables us to meet growing urban construction needs and better serve customers in Central and Eastern European markets. In addition, Murów Sawmill enables us to strengthen our offering to customers in selected global markets,” says Stora Enso’s CEO Karl-Henrik Sundström.

Murów is an ideal location for a modern sawmill for several reasons: close proximity to raw material sources and growing markets, excellent infrastructure and experienced and highly professional staff.

The modernisation will increase the sawmill’s yearly capacity from 70,000 cubic metres to 400,000 cubic metres. The raw material used is mainly Polish pine and spruce sourced from the surrounding forests. In the Polish forests, attention has been paid to the promotion of sustainable forestry practices, including the forest management certification of the wood supply base. The Murów mill’s wood traceability system is covered by both FSCTMand PEFC® Chain of Custody certification.

Stora Enso is a leading provider of renewable solutions in packaging, biomaterials, wooden constructions and paper on global markets.
