Schoellershammer starting construction of PM 6

After having received permission to build a new paper machine, Papierfabrik Schoellershammer has signed contracts concerning financing and construction of the new plant PM 6 in July.

The investment is said to reach €100m.

Schoellershammer will adapt the capacity of the existing waste water treatment plant to the new PM's capacity. Furthermore the company has signed a contract with Getec for the construction of a combined heat and power plant. These measures have put the company in a position to immediately start construction of the new PM.

PM 6 will produce 250,000 t of lightweight fluting and testliner with grammages between 80 and 120 g/m² and is expected to start operation in December 2016. The majority of the new capacity is destined for sale on the European market. Existing PM 5 will be rebuild for the production of high-grammage paper and special grades.

In all the Düren mill will see a capacity increase from 230,000 tpy to over 500,000 tpy.
