20 January 2017

The project of recommissioning the Mantua mill in Italy is progressing. Pro-Gest reported that installation work for the 500,000 tpy containerboard machine has started.

Italian packaging group Pro-Gest has started installation work for the new recycled corrugated case material machine at its Mantua mill. The company announced that the first components of the machine, which is delivered by Valmet, have reached the site. Bruno Zago, managing director of the group, said the company was confident that production could be started before the end of summer.

The new paper machine in Mantua will produce lightweight recycled containerboard in grammages between 70 and 160 g/m² with a net capacity of 500,000 tpy. The recomissioning will create about direct 100 jobs, according to Pro-Gest. The packaging group acquired the former newsprint mill from Burgo in mid-2015 with the intention to convert it into a mill for packaging paper.
