Prices for ordinary RCP grades in Italy up in May

Recycled containerboard manufacturers' good order books and good demand from the Far East have paved the way for another small increase in Italian prices for ordinary recovered paper grades in May.

Prices for ordinary recovered paper grades have increased again in Italy in May. Market players feel that Far East export business, which has bounced back since April after a few slow months and which has seen prices rising as well, has played a significant part in this mark-up.

These good export opportunities put recovered paper merchants in Italy in a good negotiating position. With supply a little tight, recycled corrugated case material manufacturers had been willing to pay more for raw material so that they could satisfy their orders, merchants said

Some prices for sorted graphic paper for deinking (1.11) and unsold magazines (1.06) edged higher in Italy in May as well. A few merchants had tacked on more in April, others took this step in May.
