Ordinary RCP grades in France move down

30 June 2016

Downward price adjustments for the ordinary grades and price hikes for sorted graphic paper for deinking were the prevailing trends on the French recovered paper market in June.

Prices for mixed paper (1.02), supermarket paper and board (1.04) and old corrugated containers (1.05) on the French market slipped in June even though market participants described the market as relatively balanced. Collection volumes were not especially high but sufficient and demand from French buyers was still good, according to respondents.

There was a price hike for sorted graphic paper for deinking (1.11) on the French market in June. This was usually attributed to attempts by paper producers to fill up their warehouses before the summer, typically a time of weak collections.
