Omya to build on-site PCC plant to Thai Paper in Ratchaburi, Thailand

29 June 2015

Omya has agreed to supply an on-site PCC (precipitated calcium carbonate) plant to Thai Paper in Ratchaburi, Thailand, PaperAge reported.

The new plant is scheduled to start production in the 3Q 2015 with a capacity of 45,000 dry metric tons per year.

The plant will supply PCC fillers optimized for uncoated woodfree paper production and intends to use the Omya Multifill® concept to maximize the calcium carbonate level in the paper sheet.

PCC is an essential raw material for paper manufacturing and responsible for key properties such as bulk, opacity, whiteness and printability.

Omya is a global producer of industrial minerals — mainly fillers and pigments derived from calcium carbonate and dolomite — and a worldwide distributor of specialty chemicals.
