Heinzel to convert PM 10 at Laakirchen mill to recycled containerboard, increase SC paper capacity on PM 11

4 November 2015

Austria's Heinzel group is set to convert its 260,000 tonne/yr uncoated mechanical paper machine PM 10 to production of recycled containerboard. The rebuilt unit with a trim width of 7.24 m is scheduled to start up at the end of 2017. It will be able to make around 450,000 tonnes/yr of testliner and recycled fluting in a basis weight from 70 g/m2, the firm's spokesperson told RISI.

The supercalendered (SC) paper machine PM 10 has been inactive since the end of September due to a fire, but is expected to restart SC paper production in December. Heinzel plans to continue running PM 10 as an SC paper machine until its conversion in 2017.
