EU reviews expiring antidumping and countervailing duties on woodfree coated paper imports from China

Wednesday, May 18, 2016

Five leading European coated fine paper manufacturers have applied for a review of AD and CV duties on imports from China. The companies had provided sufficient evidence that the expiry of the measures would be likely to result in a continuation or recurrence of antidumping, subsidisation and injury, the EC said.

Last Friday, the European Commission (EC) has launched an expiry review of antidumping and countervailing measures in force on coated woodfree paper imports from China. According to the EC, the request was lodged on 12 February 2016 by the EU producers Arctic Paper Grycksbo, Burgo Group, Fedrigoni, Lecta Group and Sappi Europe, who represent more than 25 % of the total Union production of certain coated fine paper.

EU had imposed definitive antidumping and countervailing duties on coated fine paper imports from China in May 2011. These were to expire on 15 May 2016.

The expiry review is to be concluded within 15 months. The product subject to the review is one and two-side coated woodfree paper, in either sheet or reels, and with a basis weight of 70-400 g/m2 and ISO-brightness of more than 84. Paper reels suitable for use in web-fed presses are not part of the investigation.
