As the third week in February came to an end, the first corrugated case material manufacturer announced to charge more for recycled containerboard. Others suppliers intend to follow its lead.

The attempt to raise recycled containerboard prices came a bit as a surprise given selective price pressure in January and February. For instance, small price cuts were made when producers renewed contracts with several customers at the start of the year. Cases of crumbling prices had also surfaced in February, both manufacturers and buyers confirmed. At the same time, however, insiders stressed that this was not a universal phenomenon.
