Bio Pappel reports 51% net sales increase in 1Q

Despite a weak business environment during 1Q 2016, Bio Pappel obtained an increase of 26% in shipments, going from 326 to 410 thousand tons, net sales increased 51%, from $3,338 million pesos to $5,044 million pesos, as the company said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

Additionally, the cost reduction initiatives and operational synergies, helped improve the cost structure, allowing to obtain a $744 million pesos of EBITDA, which represents an increase of 41% when compared against $529 million pesos in the 1Q 2015. EBITDA margin for the quarter was 14.7%.

A 20% increase in unit sales price was reported, from $10,237 pesos in the 1Q 2015 to $12,314 pesos in the 1Q 2016; and an increase of 21% on the cost of unit sales, from $8,392 pesos in the 1Q 2015 to $10,190 pesos in the 1Q 2016. This was the result of a greater mix of products with higher value added.

Bio Pappel is the integrated producer of containerboard, uncoated free sheet, newsprint, corrugated boxes, cut paper, notebooks, paper sacks and other paper specialties.
