CALENDERS AND ROLLS IN THE FINISHING PROCESS

Kuesters Paper has the broadest experience and a wide portfolio of tried and tested products in the area of paper machine finishing. Here the conditions in the paper industry dictate our operations: better product quality at higher speeds, shorter downtimes and optimal consumption parameters. These are the conditions our products have to fulfil.

PRESSES AND ROLLS IN THE WET AREA

When the question of the best quality end product is raised, then the potential of all production steps has to be assessed. A particular concern of developments at Kuesters is to improve the de-watering process. For the drier the raw product is when it enters the dry part, the more efficiently can it be spread and the better will be the end result.

CALENDERS AND ROLLS IN THE DRY AREA

S-Roll technology - the Swimming Roll (S-Roll) makes it possible to compensate for the deflection of the roll over a wide-line pressure area and to carry out edge corrections. They are an essential component when large material widths need to be run at high speeds.

Multi HV technology - in the Multi HV roll there now exists a profiling system that can perform long and short wave cross-section corrections even at the roll edge. These corrections can be entered without any deceleration. They correspond to at least the resolution of well-known precision profiling systems and can also be run - without expenditure of energy - at high roll temperatures.

Mat-on-Line technology - smoothness and gloss - for these effects Mat-on-Line is the solution of choice. It gives clearly better results than machine glazing rollers while being considerably more economical than super calenders.

ProSoft technology - ProSoft technology is unbeatable when top paper quality is required: high breakage resistance of the web, best glazing quality, optimal cross and longitudinal sections and all at high production speeds. The employment of the Multi HV roll and Nip Power Management offers furthermore the best possible correction potential.

PRESSES AND ROLLS

X-Nip technology - the X-Nip roll manages to achieve the difficult task of dewatering effectively yet gently. The principle behind this is the shoe-shaped nip, which in special alignment to the product ensures a significantly better pressure impulse. The result: greater dry content, lower energy expenditure, higher converting speed, volume protection and greater consistency of product quality.

Multi HV and S-Roll technology rolls, as outlined above, are also available.

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

The laboratory calender in our technical centre is put at the disposal of customers from all over the world to run trials with their papers under operating conditions. The machinery is always kept up-to-date with the latest technical developments. With the help of modelling, all operational conditions of production machines can be replicated and potential customers will find which characteristics of the paper web can be achieved with Küsters' smoothing technology.

The dimensions of our laboratory machine are such that the smoothed papers can also be industrially printed.
