Goodrich World - Fill plus Series, DSA Series, Fibstrong Series
Goodrich world started in 1996 with a vision to reach out to every possible area where bio polymers are used. Presently the company with its innovative R & D people has products wider in range, encompassing all the spheres of everyday life. The company has extended its reach both locally and internationally and has even earned itself an ISO certification with its commitment and approach to quality.
Fill plus Series
Fill plus series from Goodrich world is the new age grafted biopolymer for the paper industry. Pulp and paper industry increasingly employs the company manufactured fill plus series for increased filler level in paper without affecting the dry strength properties. Fill plus series improves production rate due to better run ability, drying and wet strength and in case of pulp shortage or pulp mill limitation. Better bonding of filler and fines of the paper sheet is ensured with fill plus series which controls fluff on dryers and fines at press. The fill plus series also eliminates/ reduces in dosage of other wet end strength additives. Reduction in steam consumption due to filler addition is also considerably noticed with fill plus series. The plants that have established the regular use of fill plus series has indicated considerable process improvement such as higher productivity due to increased line speed or less paper breaks. Goodrich has experienced paper technologist team to provide full support on the suitability of fill plus series and ensure best possible result. The shelf life of fill plus series is minimum twelve months in good warehouse condition.
DSA Series
DSA series is a blend of modified polymers, designed specifically for Kraft paper and board making industries. The product DSA series enables papermaker to incorporate a certain amount of filler in paper which is the need of the hour due to fast depleting fiber source and ever increasing cost of fiber. DSA series from the company exhibits characteristics like bonding the filler particle with fiber and ruling out the decline in strength properties, poor machine run ability and other ill effects of adding filler.
Due to excellent film forming properties DSA series has another added advantage of reduction in fluff and dusting on dryers and calendars. Surface properties of the paper in terms of glaze and printability also improves due to same phenomenon.
DSA series can be sprayed on wire part at a dosage ranging from 2 kg – 5 kg per ton O.D. pulp depending upon the results and process optimization. For twin/multi layer paper machines, DSA series may be sprayed between the two layers. Ideally, the stipulated or decided dose of DSA series should be dissolved in calculated volume of water along with other compatible materials such as starch, filler etc and sprayed at a suitable point using a spray bar.
The DSA series may also be used for size press application along with other size press additives and used in conventional way.
There are no ill effects known to have resulted from the use of DSA series. Goodrich manufactured DSA series should be used for the purpose for which it is intended processing in accordance with current practice.
Fibstrong Series
A wet end strength additive derived from various gums containing raw material is rapidly absorbed by the fiber surface and bonds easily with other fibers and fines. Fibstrong series bonds cellulose molecule by taking the inter-mediate position i.e. it helps fiber to fiber bonding. Fibstrong series there by significantly reduce fluff, increase strength properties and improves fiber- filler fixation. Fibstrong series contains Galactomananas which replace or supplement the natural hemicelluloses in paper bonding.
Fibstrong series as a wet end additive would form better hydrogen bonding with pulp due to more availability of hydroxyl groups in comparison to guargum. Such molecules in fibstrong series are capable of bridging across and bonding to adjacent fibers and thus give better strength properties of paper.
