Pulmac - Screening and Zero Span Tensile Equipment
Pulmac International has been satisfying customers in the pulp and paper industry with screening and zero span tensile equipment for over 30 years. The Pulmac MasterScreen and Pulmac Z-span testers, including models 1200, 2400 and 4000, are among the Pulmac product line of test equipment.
PULMAC Z-SPAN 4000 PULP AND STOCK STRENGTH TESTER
The Pulmac Z-Span 4000 is a turnkey system to quickly and repeatedly measure the component strength properties of pulp and stock. All procedures to obtain strength numbers in Pulmac are highly automated and simplified.
40 samples with +/-3% repeatability at the 95% confidence level can be processed to obtain a set of three strength numbers. All sample preparation, sheet forming and strength testing requirements are incorporated within Pulmac system.
In addition, a full set of services are offered to ensure the successful implementation of rapid strength number generation into a pulp mill's production operation.
Pulmac Z-Span 4000 turnkey system includes:
- Dewatering device for rapid consistency measurement
- Fluffer to transform dewatered "cake" pulp into "fluff" pulp
- Pulp scale to measure out 2g of "fluff" pulp
- Mixer and mixing jugs to slurry and swell "fluff" pulp
- Dilution jug to dilute and transfer slurried pulps to ASF
- Automated Sheet Former (ASF) makes 6 test sheets
- Paper scale to determine moisture free basis weight of test sheets
- Z-Span tester for zero and short span tensile testing
PULMAC Z-SPAN 2400 ZERO AND SHORT SPAN TENSILE TESTER
Pulmac Z-Span 2400 is an automated and computer controlled bench top zero and short span tensile tester. Pulmac Z-Span tester meaures 24 peak load zero and/or short span tensile strengths after placing two 4in x 2 1/2in (10cm x 6cm) strips from machine made paper and/or handsheets into the feed tray. Once loaded Pulmac Z–Span will perform 24 zero and/or short span tensile tests in five minutes.
PULMAC Z-SPAN 1200 ZERO SPAN TENSILE TESTER
Pulmac Z-Span 1200 is a manual, bench top zero span tensile tester. This tester measures the peak load zero and short span tensile strength of 4in x 1 in (10cm x 3cm) strips from paper and/or handsheets.
Conforms to:
- TAPPI test method T273
- ASTM test method
- CPPA test method for measuring the wet zero-span tensile strength of pulp for the best indication of a pulp's fiber strength
- ISO 15361 pulps
PULMAC MASTERSCREEN FIBER SCREENING SYSTEM
Pulmac MasterScreen is a low consistency screening device designed to mechanically separate fibers from contaminants (including stickies) and shives. At the end of a test cycle, contaminants are deposited onto an 8in-diameter filter paper and shives are deposited into an accept collection cup for analysis.
Stickie quantification is rapidly and repeatably achieved to:
- Label pulp quality (recycled, chemical, and mechanical pulp)
- Troubleshoot recycled mill operations (raw material in repulper, holes in screens, disparger, cleaners, floatation, etc.)
- Monitor pulp mill quality (stickies to paper machine)
- Optimize pulp mill operations (stickie removal efficiencies, etc.)
Shive numbers are rapidly and repeatedly generated to:
- Label pulp quality (BCTMP, TMP, GWD, CTMP)
- Troubleshoot pulp mill operations (non-uniform cooks, holes in screens, chip refiner plate wear, log grinders, dirt reduction in bleaching operations, etc.)
- Monitor pulp mill quality (shives to screens, shives to bleach plant, shives to paper machine)
- Optimize pulp mill operations (screen and cleaner efficiencies, etc.)
Conforms to:
- TAPPI test method 274 sp04
- TAPPI test method 277 pm-99
- INGEDE method 4 99-12
- PAPTAC C.12P Sep03
- ASTM D6148-97 (2002)
- ISO 15360 - 2:2001 recycled pulps
PULMAC DEWATERING DEVICE
Pulmac Dewatering Device presses 25 (OD equiv.) pulps at 3% plus consistency to a pre-calibrated constant solids content of approximately 30%. Pulmac dewatering device dewaters pulp of unknown consistency to known pre-calibrated solids contact in five minutes. Weighing out dewatered pulp accurately predicts the oven-dried equivalent for a variety of test purposes.
