Our instruments measure moisture with state of the art digital microwave technology. One property of water is that it influences microwaves much more than solids do. Therefore the change in the microwave signal is directly proportional to the moisture. This fact allows us a very precise calculation of total solids or in other words the concentration or consistency. Our instruments are measuring, independent of pressure, flow rate, purity or colour with a very high accuracy and reproducibility.
Microwave measurements remain stable over a long period and have fast response times. Measurements on conveyor belts and chutes made of non-conducting material can be installed on the outside of the installations. On metal vessels and pipes the microwave antennas are placed inside with a flange.
Our process measurement systems are based on a three-part platform, an evaluation unit, software and sensors. The process measurement system has no moving parts and so is maintenance free. Vibrations will not influence the measurement.
Radiometric measurement instruments use nuclear radiation detectors to measure the intensity of the gamma radiation. The reduction in intensity, measured with the detector, is directly related to the density or the concentration of the product. Radiometric measurements are non-contacting and maintenance free. They are non-intrusive and can be installed on the outside of existing vessels or pipes.
The moisture measurement instrument is suitable for measuring the moisture of thin layers starting from 0.5mm thickness. Examples are cardboard, filter paper, fiberboard or pressboard. Colour, grain size, fiber land dust do not influence the measurement. As the measurement is done in transmission, the moisture of the entire product is measured - not just the moisture at the product surface. The instrument delivers a linear 0/4mA-20mA signal, which is proportional to the measured moisture.
The moisture measurement instrument can be mounted up to 50m from the antennas and up to four antenna pairs can be linked to one moisture-measurement instrument. This helps avoid an expensive traversing system.
The consistency measurement instrument is suitable for measuring the concentration of starch, pulp, acids and lyes. During the craft cooking process (dissolving the lignin from the wood fibers) the instrument measures the concentration over the entire range. Process parameters like grain size, fiber length or colour do not influence the measurement. The instrument delivers a linear 0/4mA-20mA signal, which is proportional to the measured concentration.
The standard flange DN80 PN6 allows simplified installation on vessels or large diameter pipes, any other flange sizes are available on request. For measuring on pipes we have flow cells available for any size pipe diameter.
The standard sensors are suitable for product temperatures up to 130°C. Higher temperatures can be catered for. Remote control of the instrument is via PC or separate operation panel.
Microwave process measurement allows for non-contact transmission measurement of moisture content on conveyor belts or chutes.
The moisture measurement instrument is suitable for measuring the moisture of thin board or paper layers from 0.5mm thickness.
